Feed back on music

We asked a few people to listen to the voice over and the music and they came back with:

A teacher said " I liked the voice over it makes the film sound really upsetting and sad and helps tell the story. I liked the transition between the end of the voice over and the song it worked well and you could hardly tell that there was a difference"

A student said " I liked how well the music works with the storyline and slow motion of the film. The transition between both songs is hardly noticable unless you think about it. The song goes well with the movements and the range of different angles and her facial expressions. The tone of the music is good and dramatic and goes in good time with the video. I really like the gunshot at the end, it gives suspence to the film about what has happended drawing them into the film, the title fits in well with the gunshot aswell. Good choice of songs and words in the voice over. It helps tell the story."

Music

To create our music we used Garage band. the picture below is our music open up in Garage Band...

New questionnaire and results

This is our new questionnaire we made because we changed the scence where it was filmed...

These are the results of the questionnaire...

Voice over

These are the lyrics that are used in the voice over in our film...
It's like you're screaming, and no one can hear
You almost feel ashamed
That someone could be that important
That without them, you feel like nothing
No one will ever understand how much it hurts
You feel hopeless; like nothing can save you
And when it's over, and it's gone
You almost wish that you could have all that bad stuff back
So that you could have the good

Evaluation 6

Looking back at you preliminary task, what do you fell you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

When I look back at our preliminary task we have now got better at filming the different types of shots and in our film we have managed to get the shots accurate and we took more than one of the to see what one was better to the cut and put into our film. We have also got to grips with the final cut express and how to cut and merge clips together to make transitions between clips better.

I started my Media AS course with no idea of how to use the software or how to work a video recorder. I also had no idea of what all the different shots and camera angles, also didn’t know how to cut clips together in final cut express. After the first few lessons when had the chance to get to grips with the software and how to cut and merge scenes together. I also found the video cameras easy to use after a few times of using them. It was also quite easy to cut a merge clips together; in our preliminary task we got the change to merge and cut clips together of different camera angles. Further down the line of the course we got research in more angles that we could use in our final film opening.

Evaluation 5

How did you attract/ address you audience?

My group and I would attract/ address our audience by making posters that would have a picture of the main character on a black background and maybe a man in a hoody standing behind her we would also have the title of the film ‘Missing’ in bold white writing to make it standout. Another way we would attract/ address the audience is by making a movie trailer of clips of the rest of the film to show what else happens in the film. We have also used a girl that is in the same age range of the target audience so that it would appeal more to them and want to make them watch it.

Evaluation 4

Who would be the audience for you media product?

The audience for our media product would be young adults and teenagers, who like thrillers and the like to watch films with an emotional and life changing story line.

Evaluation 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When we was doing our research on the film institutions we found out that most of th films with similar story lines as our film had Lionsgate productions. So my group and i decied to go with Lionsgate as they had already produced film with a similar story line.

Evaluation 2

How does you media product represent particular social groups?

The product that my groups and I have produced represents particular social groups because we have chosen an audience that is the same ages the girl in the film, so they can relate to her. It also addresses some of the problems that teenagers have nowadays. We got our target audience from a questionnaire that we carried out before we did our filming to see what age group was most likely to watch films. We then used the information from that to get idea for our film. We found out that it was young adults and teenagers that are most likely to watch films. Our product meets this genre because of the type of movie we have done. We also had a look at other films with s similar story line as ours to get the age range.

Evaluation 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In my groups media product it has titles of the cast, custom designer, music designer and director at the begging which is used in other film openings and we have also got a title at the end like most films to show what the film is called. We have also got music and a voice over, in the voice over you can kind of get a hint of what the film is about after that it just goes in to a normal music and this adds to the effect that my group and I was trying to get across, the music also showed the mood of the film. The final product shows a message that there is a lot of emotion when someone goes missing it also gets the audience think of ‘what happens next?’ ‘do they find her in time?’ and all sorts of questions. With the music and titles that we have used it shows emotion. Our final product draws people in by the voice over because they have to listen to get the message and the other music because it is quit emotional and makes the audience want to carry on watching. Our film opening has everything that a normal film opening would have; it has titles, music and we even have a film institutions.

Change of Plan

Change of Plan...

Our group has decided to change our film-opening scene but keep the same story line. As we thought it would be better to have it in a different location as it fitted in with the story line. We have decided to do it down Chatham, so she gets a text from the person that kidnaps her saying that they need to meet. We changed it in the early stages of filming so that we could fit all the clips that we needed to get. We decided to change the location of our film, we was originally filming at Rainham School for Girl but we are now filming down in Chatham as it fitted in better with our story line.

As a group we also decided to change the ending; it did start off of the girl walking down the road and she slowly starts to fade away. We have changed it to her walking off and then it cuts to the title with a sound effect of a gun.

We have also changed the people in the film. We started off with three girls and one gets kidnapped but now there is just one girl and she goes missing because she gets a text from the kidnapper saying they need to meet. She is walking by herself down Chatham and she feels as though someone is following her. Some of the clips that we going to use have been slowed down to give it more effect in the film.

We changed the film opening because we had looked at some of the ones down around school and they didn’t look every professional and we wanted our to look professional and try and get higher marks for it. We decided as a group where we would film? What time of day? And who would be in it? So once we had all this information we filmed it all in one day so it would be easier for us to edit it together.

The film now is about a young girl that is walking out of the shopping mall in to chatham high street and she gets a text from the kidnapper saying that thet they need to meet. She carries on walking in the high street to the cash machine, she gets some money out and after she has done that she walks off down the high street and a lady walking into the path of see her in the camera so that you don’t see her and it cuts to the title with the gun shot.
